Milwaukee Police Department’s Open Records procedures

Records kept by law enforcement agencies are a key resource for attorneys and private individuals seeking information on third parties.  Wisconsin law mandates that these records are obtainable through a simple “open records request” from the agency.

In Milwaukee, you can easily obtain open records with an email to MPDOpenRecords@Milwaukee.gov. The email should include the relevant individual, address, or business name mentioned in the report, the dates of reports to be produced (i.e. February 2005 through the present), and the requestor’s name and mailing address.  Open records are not free.  Generally, MPD charges $0.25 per page of report.
